Swiss Startup Metafuels to Open Green Aviation Fuel Plant in Rotterdam
Swiss tech startup Metafuels has announced its plans to establish its first commercial-scale sustainable aviation fuel (SAF) plant in the Port of Rotterdam, marking a significant milestone in the company’s efforts to boost SAF production. Metafuels’ CEO, Saurabh Kapoor, emphasized the importance of the new facility, named Turbe, in advancing the production of affordable and scalable SAF to meet Europe’s ambitious decarbonization goals. The plant will be constructed in collaboration with liquid energy storage provider Evos, utilizing Evos’ existing Rotterdam terminal for integration. This strategic partnership aims to address the growing demand for eco-friendly aviation fuels in the region. Last year, Metafuels revealed its intentions to build a similar facility in Denmark, further solidifying its commitment to sustainable aviation practices. With Turbe’s establishment, Metafuels seeks to contribute to the aviation industry’s efforts to reduce carbon emissions and create a more environmentally friendly future. The company’s innovative approach to SAF production underscores its dedication to driving positive change within the aviation sector and fostering a greener, more sustainable industry landscape.
