Canada’s Leylah Fernandez Suffers Early Exit at Strasbourg Open, Struggles Continue Ahead of Roland-Garros

Canada’s Leylah Fernandez faced another disappointing defeat at the Strasbourg Open, losing in straight sets to France’s Diane Parry in the Round of 32. Fernandez, currently ranked 26th in the world, struggled with her serve, giving up seven points via double fault to Parry’s one. Despite managing to force a tiebreak in the second set, she ultimately lost 7-3. This loss marks yet another early exit for Fernandez in the lead-up to Roland-Garros, as she has failed to advance to the Round of 16 in six consecutive tournaments since the Qatar Open in February. The Montreal native’s poor results in 2025 contrast with her success at the Australian Open in January, where she reached the Round of 32 before being eliminated by Coco Gauff. Fernandez’s best grand slam finish in women’s singles came at the US Open in 2021, where she lost in the finals to Emma Raducanu of Great Britain.
