Pearl Jam Releases New Compilation Inspired by HBO’s ‘The Last of Us’

Rock band Pearl Jam has recently unveiled a special four-track collection of songs tied to The Last of Us franchise, showcasing their enduring connection to the popular video game series and its upcoming HBO adaptation.

The EP includes a mix of studio recordings, a live performance, and a reworked fan favorite, with a limited edition vinyl version exclusively available to members of the band’s fan club, the Ten Club.

Among the tracks featured on the compilation are the original studio version of “Future Days” from their 2013 album Lightning Bolt, as well as “All or None” from Riot Act (2002). On the vinyl release, fans can enjoy a new live rendition of “Future Days,” recorded at the 2024 Ohana Festival, along with a fresh take on No Code’s “Present Tense” titled “Present Tense (Redux).”

“Future Days” has played a significant role in The Last of Us franchise, particularly in The Last of Us Part II where the song is a recurring motif symbolizing connection and loss. The emotional impact of the song was also highlighted outside of the game when Eddie Vedder performed it at The Game Awards in 2020.

In a recent episode of HBO’s The Last of Us series, the song makes a poignant return as Ellie performs a snippet of “Future Days” on a guitar in a scene reminiscent of the game.

The compilation is now available on major streaming platforms, with a limited edition 12-inch vinyl version released through Pearl Jam’s official website for members of The Ten Club.

This release comes in the midst of Pearl Jam’s global tour in support of their twelfth studio album Dark Matter, which debuted at No. 5 on the Billboard 200 chart. The band’s tour, spanning North America and Europe, has already seen memorable moments like a special performance of “Black” in Nashville featuring Peter Frampton.
